About one pound of red lentil tempeh was made, dehulled from bulk barn. Annotated pictures depict the method. The lentils are only cooked for two minutes since.they are dehulled and cook quickly. They coagulate if cooked longer and the mycelium cannot penetrate through the lentil block, hence no fermentation. The end product is perfect. The fermentation was 31C for about 40 hours. Lentil tempeh is easy to make.

At the bottom of the pail, fermenter, is a limb warmer with a control LMH and Off from a drug store. That is the main heat. I use the LED lamp for minor control at 31C. The lamp is probably not needed simplifying the design, Set at M the heater keeps he temperature almost constant at 31C. Range is about 29C to 34C.

I also use the LED for starting seeds, since about 6 cups can b e set in the bottom of a pail without the heater of course.

oh that is so clever using a heating pad. I am trying to work up the nerve to try my hand a tempeh. On that note of seed starting we actually build products used for root warming in greenhouse nurseries. Thanks for the great info you share with us all.
