Fifo jars - corroded metal clamps.

Been making sauerkraut now for a good two years using 0.7ltr (1.5 US pint) fifo jars, and finding that all the metal wire clamps are massively corroded. Is this a function of using cheap jars or do all clamps corrode from sauerkraut juices? No point in buying more expensive ones if they are going to do the same.

Mine are corroding slowly. I've wondered if it was the dishwasher because I most notice it when taking them out, but that seems like a weird cause.

Always wash my jars by hand, Chris. I believe that the corrosion on the wire of my jars definitely comes from the sauerkraut juices. Just wondered whether it's a function of the cheaper jars I use, or whether it happens to all Fifo jar clamps used for kraut.
