I was putting my kombucha through a 2nd fermentation to flavor it with dried hibiscus flowers. After 2 days (the normal time I use for a 2nd ferment) I noticed a baby scoby had formed on top. I have never had any flavor (or plain) ever form a scoby once it has been poured off (I do get the scoby strands, but never a full mushroom).
Is hibiscus than another product one can use instead of tea? I generally use either organic oolong or black tea.
What is your experience?
