searching for a mother

i'm going to do it! start my first kombucha. i'm looking for a mother and would love to find one that needs a home rather than buy a new one. i'll pay for shipping and packaging.

You can also make your own.

I've made my own by buying a commercial Kombuca (like Katlyst Kombuca), pouring out some into a glass (especially any stringy culture in the bottle), covering the glass with cheese cloth and leaving out in a warm place for a week or so.

Just getting back into brewing and found this here. Does anybody know if people reformulating their commercial brews due to the psycho alcohol scare a little while back would affect the outcome of trying this method out?

The method still works with the new versions of some of these brews, such as GT's Synergy. But you need to be sure that you are using the original flavor raw kombucha. Here is a link that might help:
