Good day from Nova Scotia

Postby Jgerrard on Fri Apr 02, 2021 9:26 am

Glad I found this forum. I am new to fermenting. Have had success with hot sauces. This is what introduced me to this whole new world.. sort of. I remember growing up with an old 5 gallon bucket of sauerkraut stinking in the shed! Had to scrape the mould off to get at the good stuff. I have a question about beets. I have about 5 pounds going for 13 days now and am curious about the growth on top. Hard to tell the colour. I assume it would be white if it were not for the beet red. Any help would be wonderful. Completely covered surface..looks like a wrinkled surface. Still bubbling away. I noticed a big bubble surface when I opened it to check. container is air lock.

Welcome to Wild Fermentation!

Repost in the veggie ferments board to get more eyes on your question. You probably have a pellicle of Kahm "yeast" forming.
