Where can I get a Kefir mother?

I just got a goat and I'd love to make kefir with with all this milk. Where is the best place to get a mother?

I have found the best place to get the "mother" for all my fermenting is to get a product from the store which is what you will be making (so in your case find a bottle of Goat's milk Kefir) and add it to the milk you have. Just make sure the product is not pasteurized to ensure that the "mother" is still alive and well. Once you have started your batch, you can then keep using the "mother" present in your batch for future batches.

ed kaspar at happyherbalist.com sells kefir grains, among other fun fermentables. best way though is to just share your grains with as many people as will take them! i've been using the same ones and handing out extra to friends for years now, who knows how far they've made it ;)
