Dehydrating natto as starter?

Postby Thedrylandfish on Thu Aug 23, 2018 7:38 pm

I'm wondering if anyone has dehydrated natto and successfully used that as a starter for a new batch. It does sound possible as Bacillus subtilis is a spore-forming bacteria that can allegedly survive even in the vacuum of space.

Would be interested to hear if anyone has tried it. Up until now I have relied on store-bought frozen natto as starter.

Thanks!

I dehydrated store bought natto - refrigerated, not frozen , the resulted powder works added on 40-50 dg.C beans -try 1 teaspoon powder for half kilo beans
