Want a good cabbage shredder/slicer

Postby jrcaulk on Thu Feb 23, 2017 4:23 pm

I want to buy a good shredder/slicer for making small batches of sauerkraut.

Have been looking at Benriner Wide-Body Large Slicer and the Stone Creek Trading medium Wood Cabbage Shredder.

Recommendations appreciated!

Look at the Kraut cutters from Heinsohn's Country Store:

Wow! That's a lot of money for a kraut cutter.

For small batches, (3-5 pounds of cabbage, or 2-3 quarts) I just use a 10" knife and prepare all of the cabbage in less than 5 minutes.

A ten inch chef's knife. Keep it sharp and you can fill a crock in no time. I'm not big of single use kitchen gadgets.
