Oat sprouting 101 questions

Postby jpt120 on Tue Jan 24, 2012 1:38 pm

Hi All,

I think I found some oats suitable for sprouting, but didnt get the "typical" results as when I sprout things like wheat berries or buckwheat grouts, for eg. Wonder if anyone can tell me if my oats are sprouting correctly.

1. I noticed they never grew a tail, is this normal?

2. After soaking for a day or three, the grains oozed white stuff when squeezed. Is this normal?

Thanks!

I don't have an answer to your question, but I bet if you go to sproutpeople.com and ask them...they could help you. I do know that oats are totally different and require a different treatment. It is a great site and nice people to talk to . I do know that only hulless oats will sprout out normally.
