Fermented Wheat Berries Ok to Eat?

Postby meg gould on Mon Oct 07, 2013 8:51 pm

hello. soaked red wheat berries hoping to sprout. after a couple of days of soaking (i forgot to drain by mistake) i found really frothy soaking water. rinsed and drained the grains hoping for some sprout action and got none. decided to rinse and drain for a few more days (weather a little arid in nyc) and got very minimal sprout. meantime grains are smelling sour. seek some advise as worried about eating the grains.

#1-why wheat berries did not sprout? was 2 days too long to soak?
#2-can i dehydrate the berries and grind to make flour?
#3-does froth and sour smell mean the grains were fermenting?
#4-is this safe to eat?

thank you so much.
