Cooked Kombucha

Postby waystone on Sun Feb 14, 2010 11:18 am

Darnit...

Let someone else do the weekly tea thing this week, and they put my kombucha mother into fresh tea that was just hovering at 100 degrees F.

Anyone have direct experience on whether that is hot enough to kill it? (It stayed in, not just a quick dip.) I'm trying to decide whether to start trying to grow a new one from some GT now, or wait a week and see what happens with the current jars.

Thanks!

below 50 F is too low, and above 140 F is too high. 80 to 90 F is perfect. Maybe a little grumpy but still alive.
